For detailed information on the timing of master thesis (from thesis proposal to submission and defense), check the respective "Thesis guidelines" for your cohort.


Note that thesis work can only start after approval by the Programme Board.

In general, the timeline is as follows:


- By January / Early February - 1st academic year: students are provided with a thesis-research catalogue. Students may discuss with potential supervisors alternative topics;


-  Early July - end of 1st academic year: students submit a thesis project to the Programme Board making use of the electronic form available on the thesis platform (https://matix.imbrsea.eu). See thesis guidelines for details on shape & content of project descriptions;

- By August/ Early September - 1st academic year:  thesis-research projects are evaluated by the Programme Board.  Projects can be approved, rejected or conditionally approved;


- End September - 2nd academic year: deadline to re-submit projects that have been "conditionally approved" (see previous).


- From January till end May -  2nd academic year: students work full-time on the thesis project at the respective thesis institute;


- Early June - 2nd academic year:  students submit the thesis manuscript in electronic format (including raw data) on the electronic thesis platform (https://matix.imbrsea.eu);


- Early to Mid June - 2nd academic year: The Coordination Office sends the thesis manuscript and thesis evaluation forms to the Examination/Reading Committee.  The thesis promotor and supervisor are invited to evaluate the general work performance of the student;


- Mid June - 2nd academic year:  students will receive anonymous written feedback from each of their thesis jury and promotor/supervisor;


- End June / Early July - 2nd academic year: Students present their thesis work during the Annual Symposium;


- July / August - 2nd academic year: final thesis scores are calculated by the  IMBRSea Examination Board.
